On Tuesday, November 16, 2021, ArizOTA’s Legislative Affairs Committee hosted a virtual town hall with representatives from AOTA, NBCOT, and the Councils of State Governments (CSG) to explain the benefit of the Occupational Therapy Licensure Compact, which, if passed, provides license reciprocity across participating states. The OT Compact is a joint initiative of the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) and the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT®). The Occupational Therapy Licensure Compact legislation must be passed into law in each state where it will apply. The goal for this multi-year initiative is to begin state participation by 2024. Lobbying provides education and an opportunity to build relationships with local branches of power in the house, senate, and governors office.
As a member of ArizOTA your best interests are being advocated for at the Legislature. Our legislative committee, in collaboration with our lobbyist (Triadvocates), is monitoring each and every bill introduced and, when necessary, engages with decisionmakers to ensure that OTs have a voice at the Capitol.

The Finance Committee shall recommend to the Board of Directors a budget for the succeeding fiscal year, shall propose changes in the fee structure of ArizOTA, and may propose and shall oversee all financial activities of ArizOTA, including but not limited to budgets, dues, fund-raising, grants, contracts, investments, endowments, and scholarship funds.
The Nominations and Recognitions Committee shall prepare a slate of one or more eligible candidates for offices of the ArizOTA, which shall be sent to the membership through printed or electronic communication with instructions on the voting procedure. The Committee shall also recommend policies for eligibility or guidelines for award procedures to the Board of Directors. The Committee shall review all candidates for and shall select recipients of all recognitions, awards, and grants given by ArizOTA.
The Education Committee shall plan and implement the educational programs at annual ArizOTA conferences and other educational meetings, in addition to coordination of all continuing education programs planned by any Special Interest Sections of ArizOTA.
The Marketing and Public Relations Committee shall be responsible for planned efforts to influence public opinion positively regarding the profession of Occupational Therapy in Arizona through name identification, service promotion, internal and external publicity, public awareness and special events such as fundraising and participation in promotional activities.
The Publications Committee shall be responsible for the compilation and publication of the ArizOTA Newsletter, Membership Directory, and other publications of ArizOTA. The Publications Committee shall act as a resource to other standing and ad hoc committees in the matter of publications (i.e. development of brochures).
The mission of the ArizOTA Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion ad hoc committee is to establish diversity, equity, and inclusion infrastructure, resources, awareness, and outreach programs which reflect occupational therapy core values, are representative of the community of occupational therapy practitioners and students, and support the provision of services to all clients and their families within the state of Arizona.
